Welcome!
w/ The 2024 Collegiate Panhellenic Council President, Claire Covert
βHello! My name is Claire Covert, and I have the honor to serve as the President for the Collegiate Panhellenic Council for 2024. Welcome to our website where you can find all of the information needed in regards to the Panhellenic community here at UMKC. This website includes recruitment details, upcoming events, executive board and delegate introductions, and a little bit of information about our three chapters here on campus. I know that Greek life can seem overwhelming at first, but we have made this website to alleviate some of those jitters and hopefully answer the questions you may have! If you cannot find what youβre looking for, do not hesitate to reach out to us!
Our community consists of three Panhellenic chapters including Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, and Delta Zeta. While each chapter holds their own set of values, we all share the same four values of sisterhood, leadership, service, and scholarship. Of our four values, we can all agree that scholarship is our top priority. Everyone in our community shares this same mindset and works together to motivate each other to perform at their best. In many years, the community has had a grade point average higher than the all-women's average on campus. All three of our chapters make scholarship a priority to help be successful college students.
The value of sisterhood is also shared among the Panhellenic community. I was a competitive golfer in high school and was surrounded by very inspiring people growing up. I did not know anyone coming to UMKC, so it was very important for me to find a similar structure. I had no idea how I would make new friends, but I felt like I had found that new group of people that supported me when I joined my chapter. The sense of sisterhood is felt within and beyond all three chapters at UMKC. There is an amazing support system within the Greek community, and it is a group of individuals who want to see each other succeed. The value of leadership is an important factor for many individuals in our community. There is a plethora of opportunities to get involved in positions within the Greek chapters and community.Whether it is within a chapter or for all on Panhellenic, there are so many positions that fit many leadership interests. Being the President of the Collegiate Panhellenic Council has helped me step out of my comfort zone and become more confident. I have learned skills that I will take into my career and time after graduating from UMKC.
Last, but certainly not least, is our value and dedication to service. All three chapters show their tremendous support through their own national philanthropies and local organizations. They support these organizations by hosting fun, campus and community wide events each semester to raise money and awareness for their specific organizations. In addition to chapter philanthropies, the Collegiate Panhellenic Council supports Circle of Sisterhood, an organization whose goal is to remove educational barriers for girls and women facing poverty and oppression. We are very proud of our Panhellenic community for showing so much support and dedication to service within and beyond their chapters. There is no doubt that joining a sorority can be intimidating and raise hesitations. We understand there are many stereotypes that surround sororities and their women that are oftentimes negative.
I am here to urge you to push through those worries and get to know our amazing community at UMKC. This community is full of individuals who want to see you succeed and thrive. We are here to support you in your personal growth, academic successes, and see your lasting impression you make at UMKC and beyond.
If you take any information from this message, I hope you know that YOU belong here! The individuality and personal experiences of every member makes UMKC Greek life so special. I hope you are excited for your journey at UMKC. We will see you soon and cannot wait to get to know you.β
